The Children's Christmas Program was presented last night Lighthouse Baptist Church. What a wonderful job they did! The program was well rehearsed and performed. It was obvious the children were ready for this. Thank you Tabitha Cehulik and Mrs Anna Pearson for all of your hard work. It was a real blessing!

How Deep The Fathers Love
Josh and I joined forces to sing this several years ago. It quickly became one of my favorites. Josh went on to Crown College and now teaches music there.... Big surprise there, eh?
Hope you enjoy it.

Niagara Falls
When I went to the falls early in the morning on Saturday, before the conference breakfast, I took a video of the falls. The mist was unbelieveable. I suppose it was because of the cool ambient temperature, relative to the temperature of the water. Any way, it sure was beautiful!
Niagara Falls (Again)
While at the annual Lighthouse Baptist Church Couples Conference, I rose early and went to the brink of the Falls. It was really cold and the mist rose accordingly. Later, we went to the Buffalo Marina to watch the sun set. (well, it WAS a marriage conference, after all)

"Thunder OVER Niagara"
The air show this year was excellent. The weather was awesome, and some of us walked away with a bit of sunburn.... in September yet!! I was able to see the B-1 bomber take off... though at the time, we were on the I-190N backed up in traffic... note to self: Leave in time to get there before the traffic rush! We sat on the 190 for an hour or more, before the NYSP waved us on to the next exit for an alternate route.
All in all, I don't think we missed too much. I'd seen the majority of the displays before, and was more interested in the flying aspect of the show anyway. I was not disappointed! I had never seen the B-2 stealth bomber live before this day. I was awed as I took photos of the beast... I realized that as I was taking the photos, that the crowd noise was much louder than the plane! Didn't realize how quiet it was.
The MIG gave a nice display of its flying beauty; very graceful in the air. It reminded me of stories I had read as a young guy. I forget the title, but it involved the Korean conflict and battles between the F-86 Sabre and the MIG.
Of course, the stars of the show were impressive! The commander of the Thunderbirds gave the oath of enlistment to at least 25 - 30 enlistees, who responded enmass to the oath.
It was then time for the "Big Show". The skilled flight demos were faultless and very impressive. The music was pounding and driving, until, nearing the end, in honor of those who gave their lives on 9-11, and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who are still serving today, "God Bless America" was played over the loud speakers. It was very moving to say the least.

Labor Day, 2011
This year, instead of going to Letchworth on Columbus Day (I usually have to work) we decided to go to on Labor Day. Letchworth was definitely not a disappointment. The weather held off, and we got to enjoy a fire in the fireplace of one of the shelters.
Dinner afterwards was rather unsettling though. We had our "eyes on Earl's Pies", as his commercial goes. As ususal, the holiday was on a Monday, and Earl's was closed. I think we'll have to plan on another location for our vacation dinners.
We went to Smokey Bones instead.... the food was ok, but I will never go there again; just not my type of place.

"Thunder on the Niagara"
Here are a few photos of the boat races held each year on the Niagara River in North Tonawanda. Many are not tack sharp because of their movement (very fast) and the fact that I should have used a higher shutter speed.

What a wonderful day for a party! Congratulations Josh! It's unfortunate that by the time I got the camera out, you were nowhere to be found... until the final group shot. Oh well, it was a great day. It was nice talking with you. Hope you like the pics.

Our New Liner
Well, I was in the process of tearing down our pool. I was hoping to purchase a new one next year. As I began the process of tearing it down, I realized that I could probably tackle the job of replacing the liner. I carefully removed what needed removing, cleaned everything up, patched the rust hole and got a sweet deal on a liner... had a connection. Here is the nearly finished job.

Valley Falls, West Virginia
Well, we drove Leah to Mt Salem Revival Grounds, here in West Virginia, and left her in the good care of the Ewing family. We were then left to fend for ourselves. We drove 25 miles to our hotel and literally crashed.
On Friday, rested and refreshed, we decided to do some sight-seeing. We found ourselves at Valley Falls for the day. The spot we selected was graced with two levels of water falls cascading into a foaming pool below. It was wonderfully sunny and warm (HOT) but still very enjoyable.
While we sat, soaking up some sun, a group of young people, carrying kayaks paraded by us. Here are some of the photos I took of them. Unfortunately, the sun was directly overhead and I was fairly far away. The 70-200mm lens was nice, but can only get so close!

Meet Mia Annette!!
Last week, I had the pleasure of taking family photos of Pastor and Mrs. Costantino's clan. It was a rather large gathering, but it went very, very well. The kids cooperated in the very best way! I had a great time. Hope they did too! Here is a photo of the newest addition to their family. Please welcome Mia Annette.

Church Picnic 2011
The weather thus far this spring/summer has been quite wet to say the least! However; this day was perfect! The sun was shining, there were a few clouds, and lots and lots of kids! I would say everyone had a wonderful time today. I believe we even had some neighborhood visitors present... that's the whole reason for the picnic, after all! Hope you enjoy the photos. No RAW photos taken on this day, strictly JPG's.

Friday Nite Teen Activity 6/17/2011
The teens had a wonderful time (well, the winners did, anyway) playing softball. If memory serves me, it was a very close game... a nail biter I think. A few bruises and contusions resulted from the game... nothing serious though. Afterwards, they went to Mr Jim Kariman's home for a bonfire. Teens... if you weren't there, you missed out on a great time! Here are some photos:

Lighthouse Baptist Church Homeschool Graduation
A special night at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Alyssa Kariman graduated from Kindergarten, and Joy Flateau graduated from High School. It was a wonderful service. Of course Pastor Costantino preached a very appropriate message to encourage not only the Homeschool graduate, but all of our high school grads. The evening was accentuated by the music specials performed by "Abounding Grace" and Joy and Leah Flateau. As soon as I can get it, I will upload a link to a recording of the song performed by Joy and Leah.

Joy's 18th Birthday
We surprised Joy on her 18th birthday. We celebrated at her favorite restaurant (Red Robin) We also surprised her by including her friend, Cliff. She walked in the door and saw him there - the look on her face was priceless! Her expression of excitement - "Well shut the front door" was something I'd never heard before! We went home and continued to celebrate with the rest of the family.... which is another story in itself.... I shall post that later!

Tri-State Formal
Friday evening, the Teens traveled to Pennsylvania for their annual formal tri-state dinner. Here are some photos of them. You'll have to admit, they all look very fine indeed! Following the tri-state formal, many of the teens travelled to Cleveland, Ohio for a day in the (liquid) sunshine at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.
I have ordered 4 x 6 prints of each of these photos and will make them available to you (free). If you would like additional copies (any size) I can make that happen. You might want to get together with others and order together. That will save on shipping costs.

Miss Robin
While working in the backyard, Miss Robin kept yelling (chirping) at me each time I went to the rear of the yard. I hadn't noticed that she had built her nest under the pool deck, and each time I came near, she would have a fit.

Lighthouse Baptist Church "Nerd Night"
Our wonderful teenagers dressed up Steve Erkel style (did I do that?). Seems as though they had a great time. They took a lot of pride in their selection of "Nerd Gear" with many of them looking great! I was nervous about taking this large (40+/- kids) group to a public restaurant (Pizza Hut), but they were very well behaved and not one issue. Thanks teens. Sure made a believer out of me!

Joy
While we were waiting for the Allstar game, thought I'd take a few shots of Joy by natural light.
NFCAA Allstar game
Joy and I went to the NFCAA Allstar game last night. The team on which Josh and Cliff played won the event. It was a great game, and it could have gone either way, but in the end, the yellow team prevailed. Nice game boys!
Also had the opportunity to experiment with higher ISO photography. Here are some shots of the game.

This year, Teen Spectacular was held on 3-5 February. It is held each year at the Grace Baptist Church and various locations around Gaylord. The conference is being held at the Tree Tops resort, and skiing this year was done at Boyne Mountain. (It was awesome, by the way). Here are some photos of our trip. I will add more when I get home. (didn't bring the interface for the camera.)

Buffalo Lighthouse
Yeah, I know, it's been a long time since I've posted. I took a walk around the marina the other day... man was it cold. I was impressed how this structure stands year in and year out, overlooking Lake Erie. Sure is a beautiful piece of architecture, unlike the newer lighthouse... I'll post that one later.
